Small business Saturday was started by American Express November 27, 2010, and was made official by the following year. Most of us know of at least one person who owns a small business. Business owners alike know the importance of recognition and support from their community.
When you do your holiday shopping this year, be mindful of the businesses that you use throughout the year and choose to buy their products and services to give as gifts!

Post a rave about their products and/or services on a local Facebook group
Leave a google review on their google business page.
Buy their products and/or services.
One of the great benefits of small business Saturday for shoppers are the discounts. Most participating SMS will offer shoppers a discount in honor of the consumer for choosing their business to shop at on this particular day.
Don't forget about your small service companies! Lawn services, organizing services, house cleaning services, and all may have something to offer if they are a service company that you are already using. Many cleaning companies will offer a deep discount for your referrals to their business. It's a service you are already using, so why not tell your neighbor, family, and friends about them and save some money!
